Mentee of the Month
“It’s my distinct pleasure to reflect on Neal’s perseverance and passion as a mentee and developing young man. As an avid baseball player and football player, his love for team and dedication to duty consistently shine through.
His love for the team is only rivaled by his love and care for animals. His compassion and care for furried friends serves as an inspiration for how we all might show compassion and care for others. His passion is an inspiration to me, and it is a joy to be his mentor.

“Patrick Casey and Les Leathem have truly set the standard for mentorship as a dynamic duo! Since meeting their mentee, Aiden, at CHOP last year, they’ve taken the time to learn what excites him and bring it to life, whether it’s Game On Arcade, movies, the Children’s Museum, or celebrating Mardi Gras in a whole new way at Gallier Hall with the Krewe of Allah.
Aiden’s guardian shares, “I’m so excited for Patrick and Les! I appreciate them for exposing Aiden to new experiences around the city and for the consistency they bring to his life. They are always checking in and finding new ways for him to explore and enjoy the city.”

Krewe of Freret
Mardi Gras 2026
For more than a decade, Son of a Saint has proudly rolled with Krewe of Freret, making this beloved neighborhood parade a tradition we look forward to every year. Riding on our superfloat is always a highlight of Carnival season. There’s nothing quite like seeing our boys take in the magic of Mardi Gras from the float—waving to the crowd, tossing throws, and feeling the love of the city that surrounds them.

We’re proud to share that our Founder & CEO, Bivian Sonny Lee III, was recognized as a My New Orleans Activist of the Year. Inspired by his own journey, Sonny founded Son of a Saint to ensure boys in our city receive consistent mentorship, care, and community.

Son of a Saint HQ
As we celebrate 15 years of transformative impact, Son of a Saint proudly welcomed 33 new mentees into its 2026 cohort. The newest group of boys joins a community designed to support growth, stability, and possibility. With the addition of the 2026 cohort, we now serve over 700 young people, including full-time mentees, alumni, and students supported by tuition-based scholarships.
